Care For Your Body & The Planet.
If each of us #ChoosesBetter, then We All #LiveBetter.
We believe that Sustainability is a lot more than using and wearing eco-friendly materials. For every person means something different and we all practice it in a different way.
However, we ALL have a common mission: to create a better future for humankind and the planet.
For us, MUSA, sustainability means Transparency. Since for any brand that takes steps towards sustainable fashion, there are lots of challenges to tackle ex. finding the right balance between material sourcing and production, the most important thing is to be open and transparent with your community. And this is what we do.
We believe that sustainability is a personal journey that starts with us. MUSA stands for the 9 muses of the Greek mythology that each of them had her own attributes and personality that used to embrace.
We, then, invite you to stand up for yourself, your body and the planet by choosing to #WearYourself and support your own statement.
We March for a more Sustainable & Ethical Future through our actions:
90% of our materials are sourced from Greek companies. In that way we support the local economy and community, the people that work in these companies, their families, and so on. We support the local circle to keep rolling. The only materials we source from abroad are those that we cannot find them in Greece ex. pinatex. *Even materials that are not produced in our country, we choose to source them from Greek companies that have them available so as to reduce our part of Co2 emissions and at the same time support the local economy.
Pieces made to last
Our collections are hand- designed from scratch by us based on the minimal wardrobe philosophy: minimal, timeless, long lasting pieces to wear from day to night and embrace your self- statement. During the designing process we put a lot of thought to make sure that each piece is beautiful and strong enough to keep it in your wardrobe for years, and with the appropriate care even pass it on to the next family generation. Just like we have garments in our wardrobe from our mums, dads and grandpas. For this reason we pay a lot of attention to the materials we use to be natural, as much sustainable as they can be, and have fine quality. We also focus a lot on the seams to be strong and well done since this is one of the most important aspects of sustainable fashion: to own pieces that are durable, always on trend, and can be worn in multiple ways.
Limited & Local Production
Our production takes place in Greek small family businesses in Athens, Patra, and Thessaloniki to support our local community. Our bags and accessories are made-to-order and handcrafted by our local artisan partners. When it comes to production, we despise mass-production and we only produce limited pieces to avoid stock/trash ending up in the landfill.
Zero waste policy
Part of stepping up for a more sustainable future means #Upcycling. As a fashion brand, we are trying to do our best to limit our environmental footprint. Thus, we turn our production leftovers into useful garments that you can wear and be proud of. Discover the collection here.
We are proud to stand for a better future for us, ALL, and the upcoming generations. For this reason, we have partnered up with Immortaliting ( https://immortaliting.com ) , which is a project aiming to reduce our environmental footprint by taking social action in the fashion industry. Through Immortaliting you can donate clothes, which you would otherwise dispose to trash, to someone else. In that way you not only contribute to a cleaner planet, but also you pass the feelings and the story of that piece to another person, who will continue the legend of your clothes. With every piece you donate, we give you 10% discount on a future order. Contact us for more details.
Repair and alteration service #ReMake
Since we are on a mission to show you a different side of “being fashionable & trendy” by considering what we touch on our skin, and protecting our planet, we step up with offering alteration service for the clothes you buy from us or for any item that you want to keep in your wardrobe.
How does this work?
In case you face any issue with our clothes, we are here to repair them for you so as to keep them strong in your wardrobe. On the other hand, in case you own an item that you love, but the size doesn’t fit you anymore or you want to alterate it instead of throwing it in trash, we are here to discuss that with you and help you turn it into a brand new piece through a custom made process. All you have to do is to contact us. We promise, we are a happy & creative team!
Packaging & Tags
Our mailer bags are made from 100% biodegradable material like corn, make them home compostable, and are also reusable for one more time. Consider reuse it before throwing it in trash. The product tags we have on our collection are made from certified recycled paper.
Materials We Use
The materials we use in our collections are natural and they sustain the highest possible sustainability level. Up to now, in the world, there haven’t been any newborn materials that are 100% sustainable since research teams globally are trying to solve the biggest challenges that are being faced by the fashion industry’s pollution problems. These issues concern the whole lifecycle of the garment, before production, during consumption and end of life of the product.
However, as knowledge is power, we constantly learn more about textiles and evolve our brand. We are exploring and changing each season for the better.
Having this in mind, it’s important that us, All, brands as well as consumers, take action towards sustainability by choosing better and buying consciously. Sustainability is a personal matter and if each of us #ChoosesBetter, then we All #LiveBetter.
Pinatex is an innovative, natural, sustainably-sourced and cruelty free material made from waste pineapple leaf fibre. As it feels the same like natural leather, MUSA is one of the first brands in Greece to use this amazing fabric in its first bag collection. Pinatex is also considered more durable than real leather.
Recycled cotton is a completely eco-friendly fiber since it’s a form of upcycled material. It can be generally defined as converting cotton fabric into cotton fiber that can be reused in textile products. Recycled cotton is also commonly referred to as regenerated cotton, reclaimed cotton, or shoddy. Recycled content includes recycled raw material, as well as used, reconditioned, and re-manufactured components.
Organic jersey- Modal
Organic jersey (50% Modal, 50% Cotton) is a combined fabric that is soft like cotton, glossy like silk, and smooth like hemp. What’s more, its water absorption and air permeability results in a perfect dyeing performance that even after many times of washing, it can still remain bright as new. You will find it in our clothing collection.
Greek Ethically Grown Cotton
Ethically grown cotton is a biodegradable natural material, thus planet- friendly. MUSA uses ethically grown cotton that is produced in Eastern Greece by a small family business. It is grown safely and processed without toxic dyes and finishing materials.
Known for its natural comfort, Tencel is produced by environmentally responsible processes from the sustainably sourced natural raw material wood. It can offer a range of features: botanic origin, sustainable production, gentle on skin, long-lasting softness, contributes to breathability, color retention and biodegradability. We use 100% tencel in our clothing collection.
Eco PU biodegradable leather|Vegan Leather
One of the most eco-friendly alternatives available right now is Ultrafabrics polyurethane (PU) blend. This is an oil-based fabric using 100% polyurethane with the backing of 65% polyester and 35% rayon. Ultrafabric’s manufacturing is free from toxic by-products and is made up of a series of chemical reactions using 99% recapturable and recyclable solvents.
Other than your lightest and most summery outfit, Linen is a natural and biodegradable fabric made from flax plants. We use it in our SS collection pieces, well suited for warm sun-kissed days that you want to wear highly breathable clothes.
Soft and lightweight, 100% Viscose fabric is a fixture of many wardrobes and homes and has been in use since the late 1800s. Viscose comes from trees, and is a sustainable alternative to polyester. We mainly use it for our clothing collections.
